Title: Enhancing Government-Citizen Communication: Exploring Information Design, Plain Language, and Public Innovation Coordinator: Claudia Mont'Alvão Day: 29 November Timetable: 9:30:a 12:30 h. Participants: Máximun 25 participants   The workshop will be divided into three steps to achieve the following objectives:
  1. Discuss the similarities and differences between Information Design, Informational Ergonomics, and Plain Language.
  2. Present the key principles of Plain Language writing, with a focus on incorporating Information Design elements., from the Public Innovation Perspective, and
  3. Facilitate a hands-on activity where participants can draft a Plain Language text, sharing and discussing their work within the group.
  Claudia is a designer, researcher and lecturer in Information Design and its applications and implications with Human Factors/ Ergonomics and Plain Language. She dedicated the last two decades to the study of HF/E, focusing on the accessibility and comprehensibility of information from the perspective of its relationship and citizenship. In 2018, he started his studies in Plain Language and Information Design. She supervised the first academic study of Plain Language in a Graduate Program in Design in Brazil that evaluated the impact of writing style on the comprehensibility of digital public services. Shortly after she joined the PLAIN Network and is now a PLAIN Ambassador in Brazil, where she helps to promote the debate between Design and Plain Language.
